Concordance of Psalms Cited in New Testament

Rough draft, but gives the flavor of how essential the Psalms were to New Testament thought.

These citations are not especially DIDACHE oriented; read the first several dozen Psalms in particular, which are posted here, to appreciate the consistency with which the ‘Two Ways’ dichotomy is reflected again and again in Psalm after Psalm.

Psa. 2.7; 8-9

(Mat 3:17)  And behold! A voice out of the heaven saying, This is My Son, the Beloved, in whom I have been delighting. Psa. 2:7; Gen. 22:2; Isa. 42:1

(Mat 17:5)  While he was yet speaking, behold, a radiant cloud overshadowed them. And, behold, a voice out of the cloud saying, This is My Son, the Beloved, in whom I have been delighting; hear Him. Psa. 2:7; Gen. 22:2; Isa. 42:1; Deut. 18:15

(Mar 1:11)  And there was a voice out of the heavens, You are My Son, the Beloved, in whom I have been delighting. Psa. 2:7; Gen. 22:2; Isa. 42:1

(Mar 9:7)  And a cloud was overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My Son,” the Beloved; hear Him. Psa. 2:7; Gen. 22:2; Deut. 18:15

(Luk 3:22)  and the Holy Spirit came down in a bodily form as a dove upon Him. And there was a voice out of Heaven, saying, You are My Son, the Beloved; in You I have been delighting. Psa. 2:7; Gen 22:2; Isa. 42:1

(Act 13:33)  that this God has fulfilled to us, their children, raising up Jesus; as also it has been written in the second Psalm, “You are My Son, today I have begotten You.” Psa. 2:7

(Rev 2:27)  and “He will shepherd them with an iron staff” (they are “broken to pieces like clay vessels”), as I also have received from My Father. Psa. 2:8, 9

Psa. 6:8

(Mat 7:23)  And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; “depart from Me, those working lawlessness!” Psa. 6:8

((Luk 13:27)  And He will say, I tell you I do not know you, from where you are. “Stand back from Me all workers of unrighteousness!” Psa. 6:8

COMMENT: the LXX has ‘anomia’ (lawlessness) as does Matthew; nevertheless, Luke prefers ‘adikia’ (waywardness).  I suspect Luke altered Matthew to downplay the allusion to lawlessness, in order to support Paulianity against the DIDACHE.
